Civil Service Examination

The civil service exam or known as career service examination, is a exam developed and produced by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to determine those who are fit for a government job. Passing the CSE is required for everyone who wants a job in the government if you are not belong to the list of exempted or already considered as eligible.

Qualification

Must be Filipino citizen, at least 18 years old,  not a convicted criminal, has not been dismissed from a government position, and must have not taken the same level of Civil Service Exam three months from the last exam.

Types of Civil Service Exam

Professional Level and the Subprofessional level. Higher salary grades  in the government usually require CSE Professional Eligibility, so everyone is encouraged to take it instead of the Subprofessional exam. Of course, the Professional Level exam is relatively harder compared to the Subprofessional exam.

Ways of Civil Service Exam

• Computerized Examination (CSC-COMEX)
• Paper and pencil test (CSE-PPT)

Payment/Fees

As of this writing, the Paper and Pencil tests cost Php500 and the computerized exam costs Php600.

Application Procedure

• Pen-and-Paper Test (PPT)
If you’ll take the PPT, you’ll have to file your application in person. Submit all your document requirements to the Regional Office or Field Office of the CSC where you intend to take the civil service examination. Do it as soon as possible as only a restricted number of candidates are accepted by the CSC office. Slots can be filled even before the application deadline.

• Computerized Examination (COMEX) 
First, Register for a user account on the COMEX site and click the Sign Up Now button then choose and reserve an examination slot online through the COMEX reservation site. Next, file the application at your preferred CSC office on the scheduled date and time of personal appearance then submit the original and photocopy of a valid ID. Lastly, have your photo, fingerprints, and electronic signature captured.

Location of Civil Service Exam

The examination will depend on where you are. Please contact the nearest office from your place. They will inform you where you will be take the exam.

School Assignment

You can see your School Assignment on the OR given by the CSC.

Room Assignment

They will text you to your personal number you gave during application. But if you didn't receive any text you can also check your room assignment at Online NOtice of School Assignment (ONSA). If you can't access the ONSA, you can call the CSC office where you have filed and ask your room assignment.
NOTE: You must go to your School Assignment early, gate will be close at 7:30am, find a bulletin board where all the names of examinees and room assignments were posted and check your name and room.

Attire

Wear a presentable yet comfortable attire.
NOTE: Sleeveles, skirt, short and sleepers is not allow to wear during examiation.


Things to Bring during Civil Service Exam

- 1 (One) Valid ID preferably the same card you presented during the filing of the exam application.
- Application Receipt and/or CSC Official Receipt.
- Ballpen. Do not use gel pen.

Time Limit

Professional: 3 hrs and 10 mins
Subprofessional: 2hrs and 50 mins)

Schedule

The Civil Service Commission, through its official website and Facebook page, discloses the civil service examination and application schedule.
This year, 2019, the PPT schedule for first batch is on March 17, 2019, while the second batch is on August 4, 2019.
